Use Image SEARCH to find more photos — Domaine Alain Chabanon is a wine estate near the village Lagamas in the Languedoc in the south of France. Alain started making wine at his own winery in 1992 although it was initially called Domaine Font Caude, a name later changed to Domaine Alain Chabanon. Under his own name this very talented winemaker has become one of the brightest shining stars in the Languedoc

The vineyard today extends over some 20 hectares with several different parcels in the area of Montpeyroux. The vineyards are planted with the traditional Languedoc grape varieties, grenache, carignan, mourvèdre, syrah plus some others: merlot, vermentino (rolle) and even chenin blanc. Since 2005 the vineyards are managed organically with the Ecocert label.

The winery is quite modern, built on two levels to give easy access to the fermentation tanks from above. Alain Chabanon uses mainly stainless steel vats. The winemaking is careful and with minimum intervention, for example using natural yeasts, avoiding pumping and without any temperature control. Some of his wines are aged in oak barrels.

The Domaine Alain Chabanon makes several different wines, with various grape blends: Trelans (a white wine), Le Villar (100% chenin blanc grapes and sweet), a substantial rosé called Tremier, Petit Merle aux Alouettes dominated by merlot, the famous Campredon with a typical Languedoc grape blend, Les Boissieres from mainly grenache, Le Merle aux Alouettes made mostly from merlot with two years barrel aging and L’Esprit de Font Caude.
