Codorníu winery, Catalonia, Spain, stock photography samples, by Per Karlsson, BKWine — This is only a selection of samples. Use Image SEARCH to find more photos — Codorníu is one of the biggest Spanish producers of sparkling wine – cava. Some claim it is the world’s largest producer of sparkling wine. The winery is located in Sant Sadurni d’Anoya in Penedes in Catalonia in north eastern Spain. The sparkling wine is made by what used to be called the Champagne method, but that now must be called the traditional method with second fermentation in bottle. There are millions of bottles aging in the cellar. Many buildings at the winery are designed in the original Catalonian ‘modernista’ style. The architect, Josep Puig i Cadalfach, was one of the leading figures of the late 19th century movement.
